Why SIPS ?
Structural insulated panels (SIPs)
are high performance building panels used in floors,
walls, and roofs for residential and commercial
buildings. SIPS Louisiana markets R-Control SIPs
which consists of a strong structural system of EPS
( expanded polystyrene ) insulation laminated
between two layers of structural sheathing ;
typically OSB ( oriented strand board ). SIPs are
manufactured under factory controlled conditions and
can be custom designed for each home or commercial
building. Structural Insulated Panels are one of the
most environmentally responsible building systems
available. The energy that powers homes and
commercial buildings is responsible for a large
portion of greenhouse gasses emitted into the
atmosphere. By reducing the amount of energy used in
buildings, architects, builders, and homeowners can
contribute to a clean environment for the future.
The result is a building system that is 'Green' ,
extremely strong, energy efficient and cost
effective. Building with SIPs can save you time,
money and labor.
Who is
SIPS Louisiana ?
SIPS Louisiana was established by
Louisiana and Acadiana native, John T. Landry. After
Hurricanes Katrina and Rita, Landry was appointed by
Louisiana's Governor, and served as a volunteer
member, of the Louisiana Recover Authority. As Chair
of the LRA's Infrastructure Task Force, he was
exposed to the latest building technologies from
throughout the world. The LRA was charged with
providing information and encouraging the
construction of stronger , storm-resistant,
energy-efficient and ' Green ' homes. SIP [
Structural Insulated Panels ] stood out as the best
building option to provide these qualities at a
competitive price. SIPS Louisiana is a regional
manufacturers representative for SIPS Texas which
has the nation's latest technology in SIP
manufacturing. SIPS Texas has over twelve years of
SIP manufacturing experience and has over fifty
years of experience in residential and commercial
construction. That proven experience gives them the
edge to understand the technical aspects of any job
, therefore providing the most efficient and
effective use of SIPS to meet the needs of your
project.
SIPS Texas manufacturers the highest quality SIP on
the market, implementing quality control standards
that are above the industry standards to ensure the
highest quality SIPS for your project.
SIPS
Louisiana is a member of the Structural Insulated
Panel Association ( SIPA ) and is committed to
providing quality structural insulated panels for
all segments of the construction industry.
How
much money can I save with Structural Insulated
Panels?
Builders can save money through
decreased construction and labor costs. The superior
whole wall R-values and building tightness capable
with SIPs allow HVAC equipment to be downsized and
ductwork to be minimized. Builders can also
significantly reduce jobsite waste disposal and
temporary heat during construction. Homeowners that
incorporate other energy efficient features with SIP
construction can benefit from the energy efficiency
of a SIP home with reductions in heating and cooling
costs of up to 50 percent, possible qualification
for Energy Efficiency Tax Credits , and potentially
higher appraised value.
I want
to build a structural insulated panel home. What is
the first step?
For homeowners, the first step is to
identify a quality builder who has experience with
SIP construction. SIPS Louisiana can recommend an
experienced SIP builder who will manage the plan
conversion and review process. We recommend using
only R-Control SIPs FrameGuard Coated panels with
built-in protection against future costly repairs
due to mold, fungal decay, and termites. R-Control
SIPs have been extensively tested by nationally
recognized laboratories. R-Control SIPs have been
proven to meet or exceed all structural and fire
code regulations. For 30 years, R-Control SIPs have
shown they're the strongest, most reliable, and
effective SIPs available anywhere.
